IIM Kozhikode is the foremost institute which had initiated the distance learning program. It was launched in the year 2001 and presently offers an exclusive development program on software project management, in addition to six executive management programs.

The other IIMs which offer distance learning courses include IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and IIM Lucknow. IIM carries out these online courses in association with HughesNet Education.

The management courses offered by IIM Kozhikode are mostly of 1 year duration. Every year the institute shortlists around 500 professionals, Fresh graduates, CA, ICWA with minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

The selection procedure is based on executive Management Aptitude Test (eMAT) for eMEP carried out on annual basis by IIMK. Following the written tests, short listed candidates are called for interviews and group discussions via IOL platform.

For other management courses the selection is done on the inspection of the submissions and interviews. Short listed candidates who have applied for eEPSM, eEPOM, eEPF and eEPM courses are also asked to go through interview method.
